The Department of Philosophy is delighted
to announce that the 2004 Scots Philosophical Club Centennial
Fellows will be Professor Keith
DeRose, from Yale University, and Professor John
Greco, from Fordham University. Both fellows will be resident
in the Philosophy Department at the University of Stirling during
their visits.
Professors DeRose and Greco are two of the foremost epistemologists working today, and each of them has built their reputation by proposing and defending a distinctive position in the theory of knowledge. In the case of Professor DeRose, this has involved his work on epistemological contextualism, whilst in the case of the Professor Greco, this has meant his development of virtue epistemology.
Each fellow will be giving talks at the Scottish philosophy departments and there will also be a conference organised by the Philosophy Department at the University of Stirling to coincide with each visit. Both conferences are generously funded by The Philosophical Quarterly.
